TVSR Speed, Agility and Strength Program is committed to providing all athletes with mental and physical core development and muscular symmetry. Our Intro, Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Boot Camp programs are designed to aid in the prevention of injuries, improve overall athleticism, increase speed and strength in the lower, mid-section (which is the core) and upper body, improve confidence, encourage nutritional eating habits, build friendships and most importantly have FUN!
Athletes will achieve fast running speed and quick side-to-side lateral movement in all athletic activities that involve running, i.e., lacrosse and baseball. Soccer and football kickers will benefit from a program specifically designed to increase speed as well as the ability to kick farther. Exercises target the conditioning of muscles for vertical leaps and jumping higher in basketball, volleyball, track and all other jumping activities.
Each of our four and eight week programs will include the following elements at different intensity levels:
|
Evaluation of Athletes
• assessment of strengths/weaknesses
• make use of proper warm-up techniques
|
|
Strength Training
• isolation of muscle groups
• enhancement of slow twitch fiber muscles
• conditioning of major muscle groups - lower body (i.e., hamstrings, calves, mid-lower abdomen and lower back)
• conditioning of major muscle groups - upper body (i.e., shoulders, chest, upper back, upper abdomen, triceps/biceps, forearms and wrists
|
|
Agility
• coordination of lower/upper body separately, at high speeds
• foot speed and leg work - quick and powerful lateral and linear movements while maintaining total body control and explosive vertical leaps
|
|
Speed
• development of fast twitch muscles
• repetition of muscle contractions
• development of proper mechanical technique of lower/upper body forward and backward movement
• achieve total control of lower/upper body at maximum speeds while covering maximum distance
